The Milford girls basketball team finished last season by winning two tournament games before losing in the Sectional Finals to Lakota West. Last season marked the first winning season for the Lady Eagles since 1999. The (2008-2009) season was highlighted by a double overtime victory a ranked Loveland team, a four point victory over #5 ranked Glen Este on the road, and another win over ranked Anderson. Last year the girls team was led by seniors Kim Strunk and Allison Nagle who will be competing for a playing time at (Rio Grande and Shawnee State University respectively.
Coach Reichert returns for his fourth year as the Lady Eagles head coach. His team intends to improve on last year’s 12-11 record. The Lady Eagles will be led by returning starters senior, Amy Van Syoc and sophomore, Morgan Wolcott. This year should be a battle for the FAVC title as each of the three top teams in the conference losing at least three of their starters to graduation. Added to this years Varsity roster will be an athletic and talent group of players from a very successful Junior Varsity team. Leading the way will be sophomore Kelly Yee, who was called up early last season to fill the void left by the injured Alison Nagle. Juniors Melissa Rosely and Megan Knight will be called upon to help fill the scoring gap with their quick penetration to the rim for easy points. Junior Ines Vladislav will battle down low with Senior Chelsea "G" Gilman for time on the blocks. Sophomores Jo Eppers, Kristen Knight and Taylor Riley will round out the roster with their athletic skills and mental toughness. This should be a very exciting team to watch this season.
The first home game of the year will take place on January 5, 2010 when we host FAVC opponent, Anderson. This will be a much welcomed home game after the first month of the season will be spent on the road due to campus construction projects. The Lady Eagles will open their season on the road at Turpin on Saturday, November 28th.
Please come out and support the Lady Eagles as they work their way towards the FAVC Championship.
