Baseball Knocks Off Walnut Hills For Third Time In Tournament Opener

Posted on: May 12, 2016

Senior Kyle Ruehlman twirled a four-hit shutout, helping the Milford High School baseball team complete a three-game season sweep of conference rival Walnut Hills by a 2-0 score on Thursday afternoon in the second round of the OHSAA Sectional Tournament.

Ruehlman, who improved to 7-1 on the season with the win, struck out eight on the day in his third shutout of the year. The Eagles plated single runs in both the first and third innings to give Ruehlman all the run support he would need. Matt Kirk put the Eagles up 1-0 in the first with an RBI single, before Wes Reid raced home on a wild pitch in the third to make it a 2-0 game.

With the win, the No. 1 seeded Eagles advance to the sectional finals on Thursday, May 19 at a location to be determined. Milford will take on the winner of No. 7 Lakota East and No. 15 Lakota West.
