Boys Bowling Gain Momentum Following Lancer Baker Bash
SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford’s boys bowling team won the first championship, at the Lancer Baker Bash. Now the Eagles get a breather to start the second half of the season with non-conference Goshen on the schedule for this week. Following two wins over Turpin, Milford is now 6-4 overall and 5-3 in the conference.
A LOOK BACK: The Eagles scored a season high 2756 pins in a two game series, as they easily defeated the ECC’s Turpin 2756-2434 on 1/9. Nathan McGeorge started the Eagles off with a 255 in the first, while Noah Dolezal ended the day with a high series of 272. Other high series for Milford include Josh Cooper (396), Eugene Koczwara (391) and Jeremiah Mitchell (338).
Milford completed the sweep of Turpin at home Wednesday, 2358-2274. Dolezal averaged 182.5 followed by McGeorge’s 174.5 average. Mitchell contributed with a high series of 300, and Ricky Hallberg (157) and Koczwara (141) each added a game in the win.
At Saturday’s Lancer Baker Bash, the boys of Milford brought home their first ever championship in boys bowling. The team advanced with wins over teams that have routinely been ranked among the top in the Tri-State. The Eagles first advanced with a win over Glen Este who at the time was ranked eighth, then defeated #5 Colerain and LaSalle, #4 at the time. Milford then won over Dayton Carroll in the finals to claim their first team championship.
A LOOK AHEAD: The Eagles get a break from conference play this week, with just two on the schedule with Goshen.

INSIDE THE ECC: Glen Este and Kings remain tied for first place in the ECC, both now 7-1 conference play after splitting matches last week. Milford follows at 5-3. Anderson is 3-3 and Loveland is now 3-5, followed by Walnut Hills and Turpin at 2-5. Withrow is 0-6 in the ECC.
Milford’s team ranks second in the ECC in regular average, which is now 887.4. Cooper, Dolezal and McGeorge consistently rank near the top of the conference standings and are among the individual leaders in the ECC, with Dolezal having the highest average in the conference.

POLL WATCH: Mason and Oak Hills moved past Elder and are tied for first in week eight of the area coaches’ poll for Division I bowling. Elder now sits in third, followed by Northwest and Colerain. Fairfield and LaSalle fell out of the top five this week. Glen Este of the ECC’s fell out of the top ten but received eleven votes, while Kings (5), Milford (2) and Turpin (2) received votes as well.
