Boys Soccer Looks To Build On Win Streak With Two Matches In Three Days

SETTING THE SCENE: Riding a modest three-match unbeaten streak, the Milford High School boys soccer team will look to keep its momentum going this week with a pair of match-ups over a three day span. Winners of two straight, the Eagles come into their first competition of this week sporting a 6-2-3 overall record and the fourth-best league mark at 1-1-2. This week kicks off with the first ever contest against West Clermont on Thursday night, prior to a Saturday morning visit to Lebanon.

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 21 at Withrow: Behind a pair of hat trick heroes, the Eagles tallied a season-high in goals, gliding past Withrow by a 7-0 score. Sophomore Noah Burnett extended his team-leading goal count to eight with his trio of scores, while senior Trey Smith’s three markers pushed his total to four. Junior Harrison Eckels scored the final goal, his second of the year.

 

Sept. 23 vs. Oak Hills: Sophomore Noah Burnett scored his fourth goal in a three-day span, helping Milford to a 3-1 win over Oak Hills. Senior Limo Rustom (fourth) and sophomore Joey Round (third) accounted for the Eagles’ other two scores.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles continue to receive votes in the Sept. 25 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area Division I coaches’ poll. Moeller is the top-ranked squad in the area, according to the 21 coaches who submitted ballots as the Crusaders were listed first on 18 of them. ECC member Anderson picked up two No. 1 votes and resides in second. Lakota West, Mason (one first place vote), and St. Xavier round out the top-five. Other ECC squads mentioned include Turpin in seventh, with Walnut Hills, Loveland and Kings joining the Eagles among additional squads to receive votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
