Boys Soccer Opens Tournament Play At Home Against Harrison On Tuesday

SETTING THE SCENE: The ninth-seeded Milford High School boys soccer squad will open OHSAA Tournament play on Tuesday night when the Eagles welcome Harrison to Charity J. Lucas Stadium for a first round match-up. The Eagles bring an 8-4-4 record to the contest and will be looking to snap a three-match winless streak to close the regular season.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 17 vs. Harrison, 7:00 p.m.
    • 2017 Record: 3-11-2, 2-3-1 SWOC (NR Division I area coaches’ final poll)
    • Top Scorer: Senior Erik Gruber (9 G, 1 A, 19 pts.)
    • Last Meeting: 2009; Milford 6, Harrison 0

The schedule for ECC teams in the tournament includes: No. 2 Anderson vs. No. 31 Withrow (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Anderson), No. 7 Turpin vs. No. 20 Western Brown (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Turpin), No. 10 Loveland vs. No. 22 Middletown (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Loveland), No. 15 Kings vs. No. 26 Winton Woods (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Kings), No. 18 Walnut Hills vs. No. 12 Talawanda (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Talawanda), No. 28 West Clermont vs. No. 6 Lakota West (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Lakota West).

 

A LOOK BACK: Oct. 12 at Loveland: Milford’s regular season came to an end with a 2-0 setback to Miami Township rival Loveland. With the defeat, the Eagles finished 2017 sixth in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference standings at 2-2-3 in league action.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles finished 10th in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll of the 2017 season. Moeller was crowned the regular season poll champions, earning 16 of the 18 first place votes that were cast. ECC member Anderson took the other two top votes and finished second with Mason, Fairfield and St. Xavier completing the top-five.
