Boys Soccer Set To Battle Two Top Teams, Starting Thursday Against Anderson

SETTING THE SCENE: Enjoying a solid start to the 2017 season at 4-1-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, the Milford High School boys soccer team is back on the field twice in a three day span with a pair of challenging foes awaiting. This week’s action starts on Thursday night as the Eagles chase their first ECC victory, against a talented Anderson squad that is ranked No. 2 in the city this week. Then its up I-75 North to Monroe for a match-up against another solid foe.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 7 vs. Walnut Hills: Trailing 1-0 in the waning seconds, junior Cole Cambron found senior Stephen Hobson for the match-tying goal off a corner kick with just 17 seconds remaining, allowing Milford to snare a tie with Walnut Hills. The tie marked the second straight Eastern Cincinnati Conference match that Milford played a one-all tie in, after previously doing the same against Turpin last week.

 

Sept. 9 at Madeira: Taking to the road for an afternoon battle against a strong Madeira squad, the Eagles came away with a 2-1 defeat to the Mustangs.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles have fallen out of the top-10 in the Sept. 11 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll, but are the first team receiving votes, just four points out of the top-10. Moeller is the overwhelming favorite of the coaches, earning 21 of the 24 first place votes cast this week. ECC member Anderson picked up the other three No. 1 nods and are second, with Lakota West, St. Xavier and Mason rounding out the top-five. The ECC is also represented by Turpin in eighth, with Kings, Loveland and Walnut Hills joining the Eagles in the others receiving votes category.
