SETTING THE SCENE: The Eagles will face some of the area’s best competition this week as they enter week two of the schedule.  In addition to conference rival Loveland, Milford will take on Lakota East as well as Fairfield, Mason and Bishop Fenwick.  A young Eagles team open the season with a 2-2 record.

A LOOK BACK:  The Eagles opened the season on the road and in exciting fashion.  Milford held their own Tuesday when they faced Edgewood in a match that went five sets.  After losing the first set 29-27, Milford held on to tie with a 20-25 win in the second.  The teams then went on to split the next two sets, with Edgewood winning the 3rd 25-19, and Milford rebounding to take the fourth, 18-25.  The Eagles almost pulled out the win, but lost the fifth and final game, 15-13.

Milford then hosted the Lancers of LaSalle for the first home contest.  LaSalle, ranked #7 in the area, showed their experience as they took the match, 3-1 over the Eagles.

The Eagles collected their first win at Thursday’s home match with Colerain.  Milford started the evening by taking the first two sets, yet Colerain fought back to tie with wins in the third and fourth.  The Eagles were able to hold on for the win, taking the tiebreaker.

Milford ended the week by facing a team in their first year competing in volleyball.  The newly formed West Clermont team was made up of players from Amelia and Glen Este, as the schools look ahead to consolidating in the next year.  The Eagles swept the Wolves, 25-6, 25-8, and 25-10.
