Davis, Leatherwood Announce Plans To Swim On College Level

Posted on: April 27, 2017

The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that two members of girl’s swimming team and Class of 2017 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures are Hannah Davis (Wilmington College) and Abby Leatherwood (Ohio Northern University).

Davis competed in multiple events for the Eagles this winter, including three different freestyle distances, the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke. The backstroke was her best event as she finished 16th at the ECC Championships.

At Wilmington, Davis will compete for long-time Quakers head coach Trip Breen who recently completed his 18th season as the head men’s and women’s coach at the nearby school. This winter, the Quakers finished sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships. Hannah is the daughter of Jennifer Davis.

Leatherwood was a two-time district qualifier this year in the 50 and 100 freestyle events, while also participating as part of Eagles’ relay squads. Her best event was the 50 freestyle, an event she earned honorable mention All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors after placing sixth at the league championship meet.

At Ohio Northern, Leathwerood will compete for head coach Peggy Ewald, who recently completed her 13th season as head coach. Last season, she led the Polar Bears to a third place finish in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Abby is the daughter of Jeffrey and Amy Leatherwood.

These two commitments bring the total number for the MHS Class of 2017 to 23. Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2016-17 academic year as it is finalized.
