Eagles Well Represented Among Cincinnati Enquirer Fall All-Stars
A total of 11 Milford High School student-athletes have been recognized for their outstanding performance during the fall sports season with inclusion on the 2016 Cincinnati Enquirer Fall All-Star teams. The big winner for Milford was girls water polo standout Skyler Fontaine who was tabbed the publication’s player of the year. Fontaine was one of nine Eagles that earned first or second team recognition in the Enquirer’s yearly awards.
Fontaine was one of three MHS girls water polo players honored by the Enquirer after putting together a senior season to remember. For the third straight year, Fontaine earned a first team All-Ohio selection, this year after compiling 105 goals, 39 assists and 52 steals. She has already signed to continue her career after graduation at Mercyhurst University.
Two of Fontaine’s teammates were also included on the all-city girls water polo squad as senior Katey Pena and junior Emily Noll were honored for their play. Pena was also named second team All-Ohio in the fall, while Noll was chosen honorable mention. The trio helped the Eagles finish seventh in Ohio this season.
Not to be outdone, the Milford boys water polo squad also had a pair of representatives on the Enquirer list of top players. Seniors Charlie Hausfeld and Daniel Wood, second team and honorable mention All-Ohio selections respectively, helped the Eagles finish eighth in Ohio in 2016.
Andrew Johnson represented Milford Football as he was chosen to the Enquirer’s All-City Division I first team. From his left tackle position, Johnson anchored the offensive line for an Eagles’ team that ranked second in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference with 235.3 rushing yards per game. Milford featured two of the top three runners in the league in 2016 and the duo combined for nearly 2,000 yards on the ground. Johnson’s outstanding play has also netted him first team All-ECC, second team Associated Press All-Southwest District and second team All-City accolades from the SWOFCA.
From the girls tennis squad, junior Amanda Reinhart was among the Enquirer’s first team selections. A first team all-conference choice for the third straight year, Reinhart advanced to the Southwest District Tournament in the fall. She concluded her season with a 19-3 overall record, including a perfect 6-0 mark in ECC play.
Two-time reigning ECC Boys Golfer of the Year senior Nathan Arnold was picked second team All-City by the Enquirer. For the second time in his career, Arnold won the ECC Tournament last fall and led the league with a 37.2 nine-hole average. He has signed on to continue his golf career at Wright State University next year.
The final second team choice from Milford was senior soccer player Nick Glasgow. Last fall, Glasgow ranked third among ECC players with 32 points, including 14 goals, on his way to All-ECC first team honors.
Milford’s honorable mention selections for the fall were Lisa Sullivan (volleyball) and Chase Witte (football).
