Final ECC Matches Ahead For Boys Bowling

SETTING THE SCENE:  The Eagles celebrated Noah Dolezal, Ricky Hallberg and Jeremiah Mitchell at Senior Night last week, when Milford split the matches with Kings.  Just two conference matches remain for the Eagles, with Milford facing Withrow this week.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Despite one of the top team performances of the season, Milford fell to Kings in the first match of the week on Tues., 1/31.  Kings won the first of two, 2699-2564.  Josh Cooper notched a personal best 450 series for the season, including a 257 game, just two pins shy of his season high.  Nathan McGeorge series of 426 and Noah Dolezal’s 395 series were followed by Eugene Koczwara’s 313; Ricky Hallberg added a 143 in game one. 

Prior to the match on 2/1, the home crowd recognized seniors Noah Dolezal, Ricky Hallberg, and Jeremiah Mitchell.  The team helped the seniors celebrate with a win, a slim 2358-2335 victory.  The senior Mitchell set the tone for the Eagles, with a 221 in game one and a high series of 353.  Classmate Dolezal made the most of senior day as well, with a team high series of 389 for the day.  Koczwara followed with a 324 series, with contributions from juniors Cooper (190) and McGeorge (178).

 

A LOOK AHEAD:   The Eagles will see Withrow this week in the final matches of regular season conference play.  The regular season will wrap next week with Moeller, prior to the start of the postseason.

  • Tuesday, 2/7:              Milford @ Reading High School, Crossgate Lanes, 3:30 pm
  • Wednesday, 2/8:        Withrow High School @ Milford, Eastgate Lanes, 3:30 pm

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  Though previously tied with Glen Este for first place in the ECC, Kings fell to 10-2 after a loss to Milford last week.  Glen Este now sits alone, now 11-2, while Milford is now third at 8-4.  Anderson follows at 7-5; Turpin is 4-7 and Loveland is 4-8.  Walnut Hills is 3-8, and Withrow fell to 0-12.

Milford’s team still follows Glen Este in the ECC for regular average, which now stands at 879.1. As has been the case most of the season, Milford’s Cooper, Dolezal and McGeorge again rank near the top of the conference standings and are among the individual leaders in the ECC.

  •  Josh Cooper:  high average (10th – 188); high game (t-4th – 259); high series (8th - 450)
  • Noah Dolezal:  high average (3rd – 198.8); high series (5th – 472)
  • Nathan McGeorge:  high average (4th – 196.5); high game (8th – 255); high series (4th – 474)

 

POLL WATCH:  The final Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll of the 2016-2017 season has been released, and Mason will end the year at the top.  Oak Hills follows in second, with Fairfield and Northwest in third and fourth.  Elder, previously in first, dropped to fifth, and LaSalle fell from fourth to sixth.  Colerain ends the year seventh followed by the ECC’s Glen Este, who rose to eighth from ninth.  St. Xavier and Lebanon round out the top ten.  Milford fell out of the top ten two weeks ago but finished with fifteen votes.  Other ECC schools who received votes included Kings (17), Walnut Hills (10), Anderson (7), Loveland (2), and Withrow (2).
