SETTING THE SCENE: On the heels of earning two wins in three games in action at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida, the Milford High School softball team returns to Ohio for a busy six-game week of games. The week begins with the rescheduled Skyline Chili Reds Futures Showcase game against Ursuline on Sunday. Milford’s defense of its three consecutive Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championships begins with two games against Anderson and one against Loveland in the coming days as well. Action wraps up for the Eagles during Friday Night Lights in Lebanon.
A LOOK BACK: March 27 vs. Appleton: Milford 8, Appleton 4
Milford got its 2017 season off on a high note as they knocked off Appleton High School from Wisconsin by an 8-4 score.
March 29 vs. Deerfield: Deerfield 6, Milford 5 (8 innings)
The Eagles suffered their first loss of the year in heartbreaking fashion as they fell to Deerfield High School (IL) by a 6-5 score in eight innings. The game utilized the international tiebreak rule which saw Milford come up just short.
March 30 vs. Badger: Milford 13, Badger 1
The Eagles closed their time in Florida at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports with a dominating 13-1 win over Wisconsin’s Badger High School.

POLL WATCH: The Cincinnati Enquirer’s preseason Division I area coaches’ poll shows Milford as the No. 4 team ranked team according to the 20 voting coaches. Mason is the heavy favorite with 16 first place votes, followed by Lakota West with four and Lebanon just ahead of the Eagles. Lakota East rounds out the top-five. The ECC is well represented with Turpin in ninth, Kings in 10th and Loveland among teams receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
COLLEGE BOUND EAGLES: A pair of seniors on the 2017 Eagles’ roster have already announced their intention to continue their athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level. Kelsey Seitz will attend will attend Trevecca Nazarene University, while Valerie Thompson has signed a National Letter of Intent at Tennessee State University.
