SETTING THE SCENE:  The MHS girls cross country team placed third at the Princeton Invitational amid a number of new career bests.  The team now turns their attention to hosting the Milford Invitational this weekend, when they will host over 1400 runners at their home course, Valley View Nature Preserve.

A LOOK BACK:  The momentum continued for the girls cross country team, as a number of personal bests were set and the resulting third place finish at the Princeton Invitational on Sat., Sept. 9.  The Eagles were led by two top-ten finishers; Olivia Loeffler, whose 19.59 was a new personal record and good for 7th place, and Andrea Armstrong who finished 10th in 20.17.  Emma Beck (20.36) was close behind in 13th.  As they did last week, Lily Fleshour (21.59, 30th) and Brooke Stansell (22.00, 31st) crossed the finish together with new career bests, as did Morgan Hills (39th, 22.12).  Brooklyn George ended the day in 52nd with a time of 23.41.

Oak Hills claimed the title at the Princeton Invite, followed by Lakota East and Milford.  The ECC’s Walnut Hills finished in fifth.  Madelyn Frey of Colerain finished well ahead of the field in 18.20.

Of special note, the Milford JV girls ran to a first place finish in the open 5k race.  Hailey Steiner (21.28) and Gretchen Feldkamp (22.05) finished first and second respectively, while two other Milford runners crossed the finish in the top ten as Sophie Fleshour (22.39.7, 6th) and Alicia Viola-Prioli (22.39.8, 7th) in a virtual tie.  All four runners finished with career bests.
