Girls Golf’s Week Highlighted By ECC Tournament On Thursday

SETTING THE SCENE: With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Milford High School girls golf team will be challenged this week, first with a trip to Anderson, then at the 2017 Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament on Thursday. The Eagles are even on the season in dual meet action, sitting at 5-5 entering this week. Milford will be looking to improve on last season’s third place finish at the ECC Tournament.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Anderson, Reeves GC, 3:45 p.m.
    • 2017 Dual Record: 10-5, 2-2 ECC
    • Top Player: Megan Bryan (45.3 average)
  • Thursday, Sept. 21 at ECC Tournament, Walden Ponds GC, 8:00 a.m.

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 12 at West Clermont: Junior Bre Severns earned her first medalist honor of the year as her round of 44 was tops of the day at Friendly Meadows Golf Course. Severns’ round helped the Eagles top West Clermont in the first ever head-to-head match-up between the schools by a 193-223 score.

 

Sept. 13 at Kings: In a competitive Eastern Cincinnati Conference match at the Golf Center at Kings Island, Milford ultimately fell by a 170-186 score to Kings. Casey Broxterman led the Eagles with a score of 44, just one stroke better than Bre Severns’ final score.

POLL WATCH: Milford continued to earn votes in the Sept. 18 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area Division I coaches’ poll. Ursuline Academy continues to hold the top spot, this week earning 13 of the 14 first place votes. The balance of the top-five includes Lakota East (one first place vote), Mason, Sycamore and McAuley. The ECC is also represented by Loveland in eighth and Kings in ninth, along with Turpin, Walnut Hills and Anderson joining the Eagles in earning votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
