Girls Soccer Travels To Walnut Hills Tuesday For Week’s Only Match

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls soccer team will look to improve its 10-match unbeaten streak against league rival Walnut Hills, while picking up its first victory of this season then the Eastern Cincinnati Conference’s Battle of the Eagles takes place on Tuesday night. Milford has gotten off to a bit of a slow start (0-3-2, 0-0-1 ECC), but earned a positive result in its league opener against Turpin last week with a 1-1 tie.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Walnut Hills, 7:00 p.m.
    • 2017 Record: 2-1-1, 0-0-1 ECC (RV Division I area coaches’ weekly poll)
    • Top Scorer: Freshman Audrey Kaiser (2 G, 0 A, 4 pts.)
    • Last Meeting: 2016; Milford 4, Walnut Hills 2
    • Series History: Milford leads 10-2-3

 

A LOOK BACK: Aug. 31 vs. Turpin: Battling one of the top squads in the area (ranked third in last week’s area coaches’ poll), the Eagles fought to a 1-1 tie with Turpin in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference opener for both squads. Junior Hayden Moehring provided Milford’s goal for the evening, her first of the 2017 campaign.

 

Sept. 2 at Mason: Just two days after battling Turpin, the Eagles again took to the pitch against one of the area’s best, this time traveling to No. 2 Mason. Despite its best effort, Milford fell by a 3-0 final to the Comets.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the Sept. 5 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Division I area coaches’ poll. ECC member Loveland enjoys a comfortable lead atop the rankings, this week earning all 16 first place votes. The Tigers are followed in the top-five by Mason, Ursuline Academy, ECC member Turpin and St. Ursula.  Milford’s conference is also represented in the others receiving votes section by Anderson, Walnut Hills and West Clermont. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
