MHS Girls Track/Field Look Ahead To New Richmond Invitational

Posted on: April 9, 2017

SETTING THE SCENE:  Though the weather essentially cancelled the preliminaries for last week’s Coaches Classic, the Lady Eagles ended Friday’s meet in the thirteenth place.  This week the girls track and field team will head to the New Richmond Invite.

A LOOK BACK:  Rain and severe storms put a damper on Wednesday’s preliminaries events of the Coaches Classic at Ross High School, with just a few events completed.  Thus most of the meet was held on Friday.

The Lady Eagles finished the meet in 13th place of 19 teams.  Milford athletes placing in the top eight of each event were as follows:

  • 100 Meter Dash
    •    Andrea Armstrong, 3rd (12.92)
  • 4x200 Meter Relay
    •    Andrea Armstrong, Jenna Bellonby, Lauryn Knarr, Emma Netzel, 3rd (52.09)
  • Long Jump
    •    Armstrong, 6th (15-05)
    •    Bellonby, 7th (14-05)

Full results of the Coaches Classic can be found HERE.

A LOOK AHEAD:   The Eagles will travel to the New Richmond Invitational this week.  Preliminaries will be held Tue., Apr. 11; those who qualify for the finals will return to New Richmond on Wed., Apr. 12. Field events start at 4:00 pm, and track events will start at 4:30 pm.

POLL WATCH:   Though Mason continued as the top ranked team in week two of the area coaches’ poll, the ECC’s Kings and Withrow moved past Lakota East to second from third respectively.  Lakota West moved to fourth, and Turpin, who was not included in the top ten in week one, vaulted up the poll to the fifth position in week two.  Anderson entered the poll this week as well, now ranked ninth.  Loveland (10) and Walnut Hills (7) received votes, while the Milford girls team has not yet entered the poll.   Find the poll for week two HERE.
