Milford Wrestling Looking Forward To ECC Tournament This Weekend

Posted on: February 9, 2017

SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford’s wrestling team looks ahead to the Eastern Cincinnati Conference tournament to be held this weekend.  The Eagles will look to improve on a fourth place finish in 2016, among a talented conference, including Loveland.

Four current Eagles placed in the top three at the 2016 ECC meet.  Athletes from last year to watch include Jimmy Murphy, who won the championship in his weight class; Kobey Bronaugh and Daniel Wilson who earned second place finishes; and Tre Spillman, who finished in third place.

ICYMI:  The Eagles received some well-deserved notice in recent newspaper articles.

Scott Springer of the Cincinnati Enquirer and Community Press writes about the Milford Invitational Tournament and the season outlook for the Eagles.  See the article HERE.

The Enquirer’s Adam Turer shared how Milford’s Blake Miller and Jimmy Murphy helped to make senior day special for two Princeton athletes.  Click HERE to read more.

A LOOK BACK:  Seniors Kyle Brady, Vance Geeslin, Graham Martin, Blake Miller, Jimmy Murphy, and Daniel Wilson were recognized prior to the match last week with Edgewood.

Results, pictures and more information will be shared when available; check back for updates.

A LOOK AHEAD:  Prior to Saturday’s ECC tournament, Milford will head to Lakota East for a tri-match with the hosts and Bishop Fenwick.

  • Friday, 2/10:               Milford @Lakota East/Bishop Fenwick, Lakota East High School, 6:00 pm
  • Saturday, 2/11:           Milford @ Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament, Loveland High School, 9:00 am

POLL WATCH:  The final Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll was released and the year will end with Elder ranked first.  There were no changes from the previous week, so Mason, LaSalle, Fairfield and Harrison will finish in the top five.  Moeller, Oak Hills, Lakota East, the ECC’s Loveland, and Lakota West round out the top ten.  Anderson (3) is the only conference school to receive votes in the final poll.
