New Richmond Invite Up Next For Boys Track And Field

SETTING THE SCENE:  Following last week’s soggy and cold Coaches Classic, MHS boys track and field squad will head to the New Richmond Invite this week on Tuesday and Wednesday.   

 

A LOOK BACK:   Rain and severe storms put a damper on Wednesday’s preliminaries events of the Coaches Classic at Ross High School, with just a few events completed.  Thus most of the meet was held on Friday.

Milford boys finished the meet in 14th place.  Milford athletes placing in the top eight of each event were as follows:

  • 110 Meter Hurdles
    •    Manny Fernandez, 4th (16.47) 
  • 300 Meter Hurdles
    •    Manny Fernandez, 8th (44.39)
  • 400 Meter Dash
    •    Dustin Reynolds, 4th (52.73)
  • 1600 Meter Run
    •    Harris Craycraft, 8th (4:42.05)

A LOOK AHEAD:   The Eagles will travel to the New Richmond Invitational this week.  Preliminaries will be held Tue., Apr. 11; those who qualify for the finals will return to New Richmond on Wed., Apr. 12. Field events start at 4:00 pm, and track events will start at 4:30 pm. 

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  The following Milford athletes/events fall in the top ten in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference early in the season.

ECC - BOYS:

  • Jonny Burton: 9th 300 meter hurdles; 7th high jump
  • Dillon Coleman: 7th 400 meter dash
  • Harris Craycraft: 5th 1600 meter run
  • Manny Fernandez: 1st 110 meter hurdles; 6th 300 meter hurdles
  • Ben Gerding: 7th 800 meter run
  • Luke Haberer: 9th 200 meter dash
  • Owen Martin: 10th 200 meter dash
  • Dustin Reynolds:  2nd 400 meter dash
  • Cooper Stooksbury: 9th 800 meter run
  • Ben Tonucci: 7th discuss; 8th shot put
  • Sean Vonderhaar: 10th 3200 meter run
  • Trip Yersky: 9th discuss

 

Relays:

  • 400 meter – 6th
  • 800 meter – 5th
  • 1600 meter – 2nd
  • 3200 meter – 5th
  • 6400 meter – 3rd

 

POLL WATCH:   Mason, an annual favorite, continued as the top-ranked team in week two of the area coaches’ poll.  LaSalle moved to second from third, and the ECC’s Kings moved to third from fifth.  Sycamore and St. Xavier dropped to fourth and fifth respectively.  Loveland, previously seventh, fell to eighth and Withrow, though ranked sixth last week, fell out of the top ten.  Milford received two votes this week and was joined by Withrow (8) and Anderson (7) in receiving votes.   Find the poll for week two HERE.
