Postseason Begins This Week For Milford Boys Volleyball

Posted on: May 10, 2016

SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford’s boys volleyball team ends the regular season this week with two matches on the schedule.  The postseason then begins, with a first round game with Princeton.

A LOOK BACK:  Milford boys volleyball team celebrated their six seniors at the May 2nd home match with West Clermont.  Kaleb Clemons, Sam Fisher, Alex Herbst, Dominick Serge, John Stavrakis, and Bret Woodrum took the win on their home court, 3-0. Milford won in straight sets 25-7, 25-12, 25-22.

The road was not kind, however, as Milford next headed to Princeton.  The Eagles fell to the Vikings in three straight sets.

Despite a mid-match comeback, Milford fell in a tough road trip at Sycamore.  Though the Aves won set one 20-25, the Eagles were back in the game with victories in the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-23.  Sycamore evened the score with a 26-28 win in the fourth, and despite a game of back and forth, Milford fell in the final, 13-15.

Milford ended the week with a trip to Withrow, a team in their first year of playing volleyball.  Like their previous meeting, the Eagles swept the Tigers in three straight games, 25-6, 25-16, 25-13.

THE WEEK AHEAD:  Milford has two regular season dates on the schedule before the preseason starts later in the week.

Milford was awarded the 10th seed for the Ohio High School Boys Volleyball Association’s South Region Tournament.  Moeller is the top seed followed by Elder and St. Xavier, Mason and LaSalle.  The remaining schools in the division in order of seed are Oak Hills, Fairfield, Loveland, Princeton, Milford, Sycamore, and Colerain.

The #10 Eagles will face #9 Princeton in the first round of tournament action.  Should Milford win, they will look to a meeting with #2 Elder in round two.
