Senior night, two ECC games on tap for girls volleyball

SETTING THE SCENE:  With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, Milford will have an opportunity to collect two more conference wins as they Turpin and Walnut Hills in the week ahead. The MHS volleyball program will honor seniors Tatum Skladany, Ava Stokes and Lisa Sullivan on Tues., Oct. 3, with a pregame ceremony. 

 

A LOOK BACK:  Milford hosted #6 ranked Loveland on Tues., 9/26. Though the Eagles made them earn the early sets with tight scores of 23-25 and 20-25, the conference leading Tigers won the third 12-25 and left Milford with the victory. 

The Lady Eagles headed to West Clermont High School for the first time to challenge the Wolves on their home court.  West Clermont won a close first set 25-23, but the Milford squad fought back to even the match with a 22-25 win.  After a 25-22 win in set three, the Wolves took a 3-1 win over the Eagles with a 25-16 win in the fourth.

 

THE WEEK AHEAD:  Milford has two opportunities to improve their conference record, with two of the four remaining ECC matches this week.  On Tues., 10/3, the Eagles will honor seniors Tatum Skladany, Ava Stokes, and Lisa Sullivan.

  • Tuesday, 10/3:             Turpin High School @ Milford, 7:00 pm - SENIOR NIGHT
  • Thursday, 10/5:           Milford @ Walnut Hills High School, 7:00 pm
  • Saturday, 10/7:            Lebanon High School @ Milford, 12:00 pm

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  Loveland improved to 10-0 to lead the Eastern Cincinnati Conference standings, while two wins bumped Anderson to 8-2.  Turpin follows at 7-3 while Kings and West Clermont are both 5-5.  Walnut Hills is currently 3-7, Milford fell to 2-8 and Withrow fell to 0-10.  Lady Eagles who are currently ranked in the top ten of the ECC include:

  • Attacks:  Cami Malott (t-1), Kristen Bales (3), Lisa Sullivan (8)
  • Serves:  Tatum Skladany (7)
  • Assists:  Abby Thierauf (4)
  • Digs: Bales (4), Sullivan (5)
  • Blocks:  Skladany (t-9)

 

POLL WATCH: Ursuline Academy, Mount Notre Dame, Mason, Mercy and St. Ursula maintained their top five rankings for week seven of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll. Loveland remained in sixth and Anderson held at eighth. Turpin received thirteen votes this week, down from with twenty-three in week six, while Walnut Hills received one vote. Milford did not receive votes in week seven.
