The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that six members of its Class of 2017 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures include: Tori Gilman (Women’s Basketball-Thomas More College), Cymone Horton (Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field-Wittenberg University), Graham Martin (Football-Thomas More College), Katelyn Rheude (Softball-Notre Dame College), Hannah Thierauf (Women’s Basketball-Roosevelt University) and Hayden White (Women’s Basketball-Thomas More College).

Gilman was one of the top players in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference as a senior, earning first team all-league honors as well as second team All-City and honorable mention All-Southwest District accolades. This winter, Gilman paced the Eagles in scoring (13.7 points per game), assists (76) and field goal percentage (.438). She also led the league in steals for the second straight year, finishing this season with 77. Gilman was an all-conference honorable mention choice as a junior, as well as a two-time ECC Honorable Mention selection on the soccer field.

At Thomas More, Gilman will play for the highly successful Saints, led by head coach Jeff Hans. Hans has led the Saints to multiple conference titles and the 2015-16 National Championship during his tenure. Tori is the daughter of Randy and Jody Gilman.

Martin is a two-year member of the Milford football team, contributing as a defensive lineman for the Eagles. In his two seasons, Martin appeared in 10 games, recording a total of 17 tackles, including one for loss.

At Thomas More, Martin will play for the multi-time conference champion and Division III Playoff qualifying Saints squad that is led by head coach Regis Scafe. Graham is the son of Mark and Angela Martin.

Horton has been a member of the cross country and track & field squads at Milford, finishing 32nd at last fall’s ECC Cross Country Championship. This spring, she is competing in the 800 and 1600 meter events for the MHS Track & Field squad.

At Wittenberg, Horton will compete for Craig Penney during the cross country season and head coach Paris Hilliard during track. Cymone is the daughter of Anthony and Crystal Horton.

Rheude is in the midst of her fourth-year as the Eagles’ starting third baseman, a career that has seen her earn All-ECC honors three times, including two first team nods. As a junior, Rheude enjoyed a stellar season, hitting .390 with 12 extra base hits and 23 RBI. She also committed just two errors in 24 games at third. Rheude was also a standout on the basketball court, earning honorable mention league honors this winter.

At Notre Dame College, located near Cleveland, Rheude will play for head coach Amy Kyler who has led the Falcons to over 200 wins since taking the reigns of the program in 2008. Katelyn is the daughter of Scott and Angela Rheude.

In her first season as a full-time varsity player, Thierauf earned second team All-ECC honors. She placed second on the Eagles in scoring at 10.2 points per game, while making a team-leading 23 three-pointers. Thierauf exploded for a career-high 22 points in an early season win over Winton Woods and finished with double figure scoring in 12 games.

At Roosevelt, an NAIA school located on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Thierauf will play for Keisha Newell who just completed her second season leading the Lakers. Hannah is the daughter of Phil and Lisa Thierauf.

White finished her career as a three-year starter on the basketball court for the Eagles, making her mark as one of the league’s best rebounders each year. As a senior, she earned second team All-ECC honors after ranking fifth in the league with 7.4 rebounds per game. White twice grabbed a season-best 14 rebounds in a game and reached double figures in three straight games at one point.

At Thomas More, White will continue to be a teammate of Gilman, playing for head coach Hans. Hayden is the daughter of Jeff and Jenny White.

These six commitments bring the total number for the MHS Class of 2017 to 21. Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2016-17 academic year as it is finalized.
