Walnut Hills Up Next For MHS Boys Bowling

SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford is back in action this week, this time facing ECC member Walnut Hills.  The Eagles easily took two wins against Goshen last week, and now stand at 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Eugene Koczwara was the leading scorer for the Eagles when they faced the Warriors of Goshen on 1/17.  Koczwara led the team with a personal season best series high 338, and a 180 in game two.  Ricky Hallberg wasn’t far behind however, as his high series was just 8 pins shy at 380.  Josh Cooper added a 314 series, and Nathan McGeorge (163) and Noah Dolezal (144) each added a game in the win over Goshen, 2221-1983.

The Eagles scored another win over the Warriors on 1/19, this time 2308-2228.  Hallberg took over to lead Milford with a 219 in game one and a total 397 high series, both individual season’s bests.  Koczwara added a two game series of 283, while Dolezal added a 164 in game one, and McGeorge contributed with a 216 in game two.

 

A LOOK AHEAD:   The Eagles jump back into conference matches, this week with Walnut Hills. 

  • Wednesday, 1/25:      Walnut Hills High School @ Milford, Eastgate Lanes, 3:30 pm
  • Thursday, 1/26:          Milford @ Walnut Hills High School, Madison Bowl, 3:30 pm

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  Glen Este and Kings remain tied for first place in the ECC, both now 7-1 conference play, followed by Anderson and Milford at 5-3.  Loveland is now 3-5, followed by Walnut Hills and Turpin at 2-5.  Withrow is 0-8 in the ECC. 

Milford’s team ranks second in the ECC in regular average, which is now 875.1. Cooper, Dolezal and McGeorge consistently rank near the top of the conference standings and are among the individual leaders in the ECC.

  • Josh Cooper:  high average (10th – 187.4); high game (t-4th – 259); high series (10th - 432)
  • Noah Dolezal:  high average (4th – 198.1); high series (4th – 472)
  • Nathan McGeorge:  high average (6th – 193.6); high game (8th – 255); high series (8th – 436)

 

POLL WATCH:   Milford has cracked the top ten, and enters the poll at ninth in week nine of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll.  Oak Hills pulled away and sits in first, and Elder moved up to second.  Mason, previously tied for first, is now third and LaSalle and Northwest are tied at fourth.  Glen Este of the ECC is back in the top ten at eighth, just one spot in front of Milford.  The ECC’s Kings (19) and Anderson (3) received votes this week as well.
