2020 Spring Team Previews: Baseball

Posted on: April 16, 2020

With the 2020 spring seasons on hold and hopeful to start soon, we asked each of our head coaches to take a few minutes to preview the seasons, while also sharing how they’ve stayed engaged with their teams during the COVID-19 shutdown. In the first installment of a seven-part series, veteran head baseball coach and recent Milford Hall of Fame inductee Tom Kilgore shares his thoughts.

Coach Kilgore’s thoughts
“We entered this spring with a very inexperienced team. Zach Byron is our only returning pitcher and we’ll have a whole new outfield. But with that said, my coaching staff and I are excited and up to the challenge of mixing seniors through freshmen on the roster and see what we can do.”

Coach Kilgore Q&A
How are you staying in touch with your players during this time?
“We’ve been touching base with the players via email, twitter and Remind 101. We’re holding out hope of at least playing an abbreviated season.”

Share something fun you've done/have planned with your players virtually;
“Coach Larry Chialastri is organizing a Dice Baseball League for the players to play/compete remotely. Our guys were invited to draft teams of their favorite all-time players and compete in a simple dice game that Coach Chialastri developed when he was a kid.”
