Adam Horn To Represent Milford At OHSAA District Tournament Thursday

SETTING THE SCENE: Freshman Adam Horn will represent Milford High School at the OHSAA Southwest District Tournament on Thursday at the Beavercreek Golf Club. Horn qualified as an individual with a dramatic playoff birdie putt to earn the spot. He is set to tee off at 10:40 a.m.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Thursday, Oct. 11 at OHSAA District Tournament, Beavercreek Golf Club, 9:00 a.m.
    • Adam Horn to tee off at 10:40 a.m.
    • Tournament field: Anderson, Bellbrook, Butler, Centerville, Elder, Fairfield, Lakota East, Lebanon, Mason, Moeller, Oak Hills, Springboro, Springfield, St. Xavier, Tippecanoe, Troy
    • Individual Qualifiers: Alec Avdakov (Northmont), Sam Bischel (Harrison), Jacob Brownley (Lakota West), Cameron Cumberland (Fairmont), Drew Daly (LaSalle), Josh Dartnell (Princeton), Tyler Goecke (Carroll), Alex Gomia (Monroe), Alex Hewitt (Sycamore), Adam Horn (Milford), Jeffrey Main (Loveland), Jack Murphy (Wilmington), Shane Ochs (Carroll), Ben Spiekermann (Beavercreek), Trey Werntz (Sidney), Riley Wilcoxon (Bellefontaine)
    • District will qualify three (3) teams and three (3) individual low scorers not on a qualifying team to the State Tournament, October 19 - 20, 2018.

 

A LOOK BACK: Oct. 2 at OHSAA Sectional Tournament: Freshman Adam Horn made a 20-foot birdie putt on a three-way playoff hole to secure an individual qualifying slot for the OHSAA District Tournament. With three players shooting a 77 at The Vineyward Golf Course, a playoff for the final spot was held. To the excitement of the gathered crowd, Horn buried his putt to move on to districts.

 

As a team, the Eagles finished ninth in a 15-team field. The older Horn brother, Justin, finished just one shot behind Adam, finishing with a 78. Other Milford scores included Max Steinmetz and Cole Watson (86) and Tristin Messerschmidt (89).

POLL WATCH: The final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll has Milford finishing in fifth place. Lakota East was the unanimous poll champion, securing all nine first place votes. Mason, Elder and St. Xavier make up the top-five in front of Milford. Also representing the ECC in the final run down are Anderson in sixth, Turpin eight, Loveland in ninth and Kings among others receiving votes.
