Babinec, Two Relay Squads Headed To State Swim Meet

 

When the OHSAA Division I Swimming preliminaries begin on Friday morning, Milford High School will be very well represented as junior Tyler Babinec, as well as two relay teams will have the opportunity to compete for a state championship. In addition to competing in the 100 breaststroke, Babinec will also swim a leg in each of the qualified relays.

 

The foursome for the 200 and 400 freestyle relays will be the same as Babinec will be joined in the water by Chase Fisher, Sam Leatherwood and Branham Leavens. Dylan Vearil will serve as the alternate for both relays. When action gets underway at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Babinec will be seeded fifth in the 100 breast, the 200 free relay will be seeded eighth and the 400 free will bring the 20th best time.

  • 200 freestyle: Sam Leatherwood; district finish 15th (1:46.31)

  • 50 freestyle: Tyler Babinec; district finish 9th (21.53)
  • 50 freestyle: Chase Fisher; district finish 14th (21.72)

  • 200 freestyle relay (Chase Fisher, Branham Leavens, Sam Leatherwood, Tyler Babinec); district finish 2nd (1:26.45)
  • 100 backstroke: Sam Leatherwood; district finish 13th (53.22)
  • 100 breaststroke: Tyler Babinec, district finish 3rd (56.37)
  • 400 freestyle relay (Chase Fisher, Branham Leavens, Sam Leatherwood, Tyler Babinec); district finish 7th (3:12.61)
