April 28 at Milford: Turpin 7, Milford 4 (completed April 30 at Turpin)

GAME REWIND
Milford was done in by seven errors and a five-run Turpin fourth inning as the Eagles dropped a 7-4 decision. The game was halted by rain in the fifth inning and completed two days later.

The Eagles got a pair in the second, first on a Brenton Hutzel sac fly and later a Jonathan Baker RBI single. Another runner raced home in the third on a single off the bat of Jake Mills.

But with inclement weather moving in, the Eagles committed all seven of their errors in the fourth as the Spartans came back to take a 5-3 lead. Turpin tacked on two more in the fifth to extend its lead, with Milford getting one back in the sixth on a Bryce Perkins pinch-hit RBI single that wrapped up the game’s scoring.

GAME REWIND
A back-and-forth game throughout saw Turpin score the final blow with a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning of a 7-6 thriller over Milford. The game saw Milford rally to tie the game at five with two runs in the seventh and go ahead with a run in the eighth. But the Spartans answered the eighth inning marker, then pushed across the winner one inning later.

Trailing 1-0, the Eagles took advantage of three Spartan errors in the third to pull in front, 3-1. Two runs by Turpin in each of the fourth and fifth innings pushed the home team back to the lead at 5-3.

Down to just two outs remaining, Brenton Hutzel came up big in the top of the seventh, ripping a two-run homer to tie the game. In extras, Milford struck first on a pinch-hit RBI single in the eighth by Chad Lynn. The Spartans answered in the bottom of the frame and won it one inning later, taking advantage of lead-off error to win it on Matt Pera’s game-winning single up the middle.
