May 10 at Anderson: Milford 9, Anderson 8
GAME REWIND
A wild game that came down to the final batter saw Milford prevail over Anderson and secure a split of the season series after a 9-8 victory. The Eagles trailed early 4-0, led late 9-4 then held on when Caleb Lambin struck out an AHS hitter with the tying run on third with two out in the bottom of the seventh.
Things didn’t start particularly well for Milford as Anderson got four runs on three hits in the first against starting pitcher Chase Herrell. But the sophomore settled in after the tough start, allowing just two hits and no runs in his next four innings of work.
The Milford bats came alive in the third as a pair of Anderson errors and a passed ball paved the way for five Eagles runs. An inning later, Herrell helped himself with a two-run single, extending Milford’s edge to 7-4. More Anderson miscues in the sixth, this time a wild pitch and a throwing error made it 9-4.
The Eagles didn’t do much to help themselves in the seventh as Anderson used three errors to claw back in the game. But with the tying run just 90-feet away, Lambin got the game-tying strikeout for his first save of the year.
