Battle For The Bell At Milford Under Friday Night Lights

SETTING THE SCENE: The annual Battle for the Miami Township Victory Bell heads to Eagles Way on Friday Night as rivals Milford and Loveland square off on the gridiron. Both squads are coming off defeats in the opening round of the OHSAA Playoffs with the Eagles falling to Colerain and Loveland losing a wild one to Little Miami. Milford is 2-4 on the year, while Loveland sits 1-5. The Eagles have won the last four match-ups between the squads.

Notable 2020 Performances 

  • After seeing limited action at QB last season and throwing 1 TD, senior Vince Ringland tossed three in the opener against Oak Hills. Ringland found Natwan Webster and Ibrahima Niang for each player’s first TD as an Eagle, while also connecting with Payton Bauer.
  • In just his second start as an Eagle, Natwan Webster rushed for 133 yards, while finding the end zone from five yards out for his first rushing touchdown of the campaign in Milford's week two contest against Turpin. His rushing total was the most by a Milford player since Cameron Kells gained 152 yards against Turpin on October 26, 2018.
  • Making his first-ever varsity start against a tough Winton Woods team, sophomore Austin Hardin was solid at QB for the Eagles. For the game, he completed 20 of 33 passes for 207 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
  • In his second-ever start, sophomore QB Austin Hardin went 17-of-29 for 314 yards and five touchdowns in Milford’s 55-26 win over Little Miami. Hardin threw TDs to three different receivers, including a pair of scores of over 40 yards.
  • Junior WR Chase Duesing had the game of his life in the Eagles’ win over Little Miami. For the game, he caught five passes for 160 yards and a pair of touchdowns, both for over 40 yards. He entered the game with three catches for 44 yards this season and had 163 yards receiving all of last season.
  • Tahj Price recorded a 72-yard kickoff return against Colerain. The return was the longest by an Eagle since Chase Witte’s 83-yard return for a touchdown at Walnut Hills on October 23, 2015.

HARDIN NAMED TSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK: With Eagles Nation behind him, QB Austin Hardin was named the Tri State Football Player of the Week following his 314 yard, five touchdown performance in Milford’s Week 5 win over Little Miami.
