GAME REWIND

Milford took it to Walnut Hills early and never let up, snapping a seven-game losing streak to its Eastern Cincinnati Conference rival with a convincing 52-35 victory. In the first half, MHS led by five after eight minutes and opened a lead as large as 11 midway through the second quarter. After leading by seven at the break, the Eagles really went to work, limiting Walnut to just 2 of 16 shooting in the second half. By the 3:02 mark of the fourth, the visitors’ lead had ballooned to 24 points, a game-high.

GAME REWIND

Turpin used a zone defense to frustrate the Eagles all game long as the Spartans put a damper on Milford’s Senior Night with a 54-45 victory. The Eagles were held without a field goal in the first quarter, but trailed only 21-16 at halftime. After a low scoring third period, the game took an odd turn in the fourth as the Eagles scored 23 points to 25 for the Spartans. The Spartans opened a game-high lead of 12 with under two minutes left, but sparked by five points and an assist by Jack Liles, Milford got within five. Milford got within five again with 20 seconds left but four points by Nick Haddad closed out the Turpin victory.

INSIDE THE ECC: West Clermont captured its first ECC Boys Basketball Championship, finishing with a record of 12-2, one game ahead of Turpin at 11-3. Walnut Hills took third at 8-6, with Loveland and Milford sharing fourth, each at 7-7. Kings and Withrow were next, each at 5-9, with Anderson rounding out the standings at 1-13.
