SETTING THE SCENE:  Coach Frank Ritzmann returns to Milford for his fourteenth season at the helm of both the boys and girls varsity and junior varsity programs.  Two of five members of last year’s boys team return from a squad that advanced to the 2017 Division I District Bowling competition.  The 2016-2017 Milford boys bowling team secured third place in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference at 10-4, ending the year 15-5 overall.  That team placed third in the OHSAA Sectional Bowling Tournament to advance to the Districts where they were unable to qualify for the State Tournament following an impressive season.

The Milford boys bowling team will have a new home for the 2017-2018 season, as they move to Cherry Grove Lanes for all home matches.

TEAM PREVIEW:  Two veteran starters return to the Milford boys bowling for the senior seasons.  Both Josh Cooper and Nathan McGeorge will be relied upon to provide leadership, as they bring experience from a team that advanced to the Division I OHSAA District Tournament.

Last year, Cooper’s 502 series broke Milford’s previous two game series record set in 2012.  He was named to the first team All-ECC in 2017 and 2016, after receiving second team honors as a freshman in 2015.  He ranked second in the ECC for single high game (269), posted the third highest series (502) while his 191.6 average ranked seventh in the conference.

Nathan McGeorge was also named to the ECC All-Conference first team in 2017, for the third consecutive year.  McGeorge led the Eagles at the 2017 Sectional tournament with a 639 three game series.  His season average of 197.5 ranked fourth in the ECC last year.  In addition, McGeorge’s 474 series ranked fifth, and he tied for ninth with a game high 255.  He set two new season personal bests, with a 255 high game and 474 two game series in his junior year.

Eagles on the roster:  Joining seniors Josh Cooper and Nathan McGeorge; fellow seniors Jacob Donovan and Rodney Gorley, junior Nathan Hawkins, and sophomores Kyle Fanning and Nick Murphy.

A LOOK BACK:  Milford opened the season with a 2362-1965 victory over Mariemont.  Nathan McGeorge led the Eagles with a high game of 249 and a two game series of 428.  Josh Cooper (351), Nick Murphy (322) and Nathan Hawkins (309) all contributed with two game series, while Rodney Gorley (151) and Jacob Donovan (136) each added a game in the Eagles’ win.
