Boys Bowling to Face Lakota West Prior to Annual Holiday Classic

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: The Eagles will travel to Lakota West (1-0 overall) in the week ahead before traveling to the annual Holiday Classic at the historic Western Bowl S&S.  In 2017, the Eagles finished 14th of 27 teams at the Holiday Classic.    

Tues., Dec. 4:              Milford at Lakota West High School, Gilmore Lanes, 3:45 pm

Sat., Dec. 8:                Milford at Holiday Classic, Western Bowl, 9:00 am          

 

A LOOK BACK:

November 26 at Milford: Milford 2687, Kings 2571

Milford collected the first conference win of the season over Kings.  Nathan Hawkins rolled a 463 high series and a 231.5 average on the day, and Michael Kow stepped up with career bests of high game (203) and two game series (382).  A.J. Kaylor (354), Franklin Abt (350) and Kyle Fanning (333) each added two games in the victory.

November 27 at Kings: Kings 2287, Milford 2210

The Eagles fell to Kings in a tight match, 2210-2287 to split the series.  Again, Hawkins led the way for Milford as he posted the team’s high game of 178.  Fanning took his turn as a leader of the team with an outstanding day and personal season’s best series of 338, followed by Kow (311), Kaylor (308) and Abt (281).

December 1 at Big Blue Challenge: 

Six Eagles competed at the Big Blue Challenge and Kaylor recorded the team’s high game (180) and two game series high of 334, while Hawkins also competed in two games and posted a 315 series.  Four Eagles each contributed one game in the tournament: Nate Fiest saw varsity action for the first time this season and rolled a 169; Fanning and Abt each added a 165; and Kow rolled a 123.  The team finished 16th of 26 teams. 

A LOOK INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  Loveland and West Clermont (2-0) lead the ECC standings, while Milford and Kings are both 1-1 after splitting the series last week.  Turpin (0-0) is followed by Anderson and Walnut Hills, both 0-2 to start the season.

Milford 838.8) fell to 5th in team average; West Clermont (987.8) is the new ECC leader.

A look at Milford’s individual statistical leaders as of Dec. 3:

Average: Hawkins (6th - 196)

High Game: Hawkins (3rd – 238); Abt (5th – 233)

Series High: Hawkins (1st – 463); Abt (10th – 404)

 

ICYMI:  Nathan Hawkins was nominated for the Cincinnati Enquirer Male Bowling Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26.  The senior led Milford to their first victory of the season, a 2505-2486 victory over McNicholas High School.  Hawkins rolled an outstanding two-game series of 451.

 

POLL WATCH: The latest area coaches’ poll has Northwest again leading the top ten.  LaSalle moved up three spots from fifth to second, while Elder fell from first to third.  Middletown and the ECC’s West Clermont are now tied for fourth.  Kings (8) and Milford (6) are the lone ECC programs to receive votes in the latest poll, which can be found at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
