Boys Golf Back On Course This Week With Pair of Intriguing Match-Ups

SETTING THE SCENE: Having won back-to-back dual matches before an idle stretch, the Milford High School boys golf team hits the links this week with match-ups against a pair of quality opponents. The week kicks off with a battle with Mason on Wednesday, one of the top-five ranked squads in the area, before the Eagles go head-to-head for the first time ever with West Clermont one day later.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 6 at Mason, Shaker Run GC, 4:00 p.m.

  • Thursday, Sept. 7 vs. West Clermont, Deer Track GC, 4:00 p.m.

A LOOK BACK: Aug. 21 at LaSalle Invitational: The Eagles took on a competitive field at the LaSalle Invitational on the links at Indian Ridge Golf Club. Milford finished with a team score of 366 and were led by junior Justin Horn and senior Cameron Loux with scores of 81 and 82, respectively.

 

Aug. 22 vs. Walnut Hills: The Eagles took to their home course, Deer Track, for the first time this season and came away with a big 165-197 win over league rival Walnut Hills. Senior Cameron Loux put together a solid round of 40 to take match medalist honors.

 

Aug. 24 vs. Anderson: Milford made it two wins in as many tries at Deer Track, edging league foe Anderson by a 157-164 score. Junior Justin Horn led all players with a stunning even-par round of 36 to pace the Eagles to victory.

POLL WATCH: Coming off a week that saw the Eagles idle from outside competition, the Eagles fell into the others receiving votes section of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Sept. 5 Division I area coaches’ poll. St. Xavier continues to be the big favorite of the voting coaches, earning 13 of the 14 first place votes that were cast. Lakota East took second with the other No. 1 nod, followed by Elder, Mason and Moeller. The ECC is represented by three top-10 teams including Loveland (6th), Turpin (7th) and Anderson (10th), along with Kings and West Clermont joining Milford in the others section of the poll. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
