Boys Golf Back On Course With Pair Of Duals This Week

Posted on: August 20, 2018

SETTING THE SCENE: After having its only contest of last week fall victim to a rainout, the Milford High School boys golf squad will be back in action this week for a pair of matches in a three-day stretch. The opener to week will be a good barometer for the Eagles as they will square off with the area’s second-ranked team, Mason. Milford will also open Eastern Cincinnati Conference head-to-head action against West Clermont.

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, August 21 at Mason, Grizzly Course at Mason Golf Center, 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 23 vs. West Clermont, Deer Track Golf Course, 4:00 p.m.

A LOOK BACK: August 16 vs. Kings: Rain was the only winner of the day as Milford’s match against Kings was washed out. The meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, Aug. 30.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: A look at Milford’s individual averages for the 2018 season:

  • Adam Horn (37.2—ranked 2nd in ECC)
  • Justin Horn (38.2—ranked 3rd in ECC)
  • Tristin Messerschmidt (41.0—tied for 7th in ECC)
  • Max Steinmetz (41.5)
  • Taylor Rehmer (43.3)
  • Cole Watson (43.3)

POLL WATCH: Despite being rained out in its only scheduled contest of the week, the Eagles retained fifth place in the weekly Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll, released on August 20. Lakota East is the heavy favorite of the coaches, earning nine of the 10 first place votes that were cast. Mason placed second, with Elder, owner of the other No. 1 vote, third, just ahead of St. Xavier. The Eastern Cincinnati Conference is represented in slots 7-8-9 by Loveland, Anderson and Turpin, with Kings also receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
