Boys Golf Back To Sharon Woods Golf Course For OHSAA Sectionals

SETTING THE SCENE: For the second straight week, the Milford High School boys golf team will travel to the Sharon Woods Golf Course chasing a tournament title, when the Eagles compete in Tuesday’s OHSAA Sectional Tournament. The Eagles took to the Sharon Woods links last week for the Eastern Cincinnati Tournament where they finished third behind co-medalist Justin Horn. Milford finished fifth at last season’s Sectional Tournament.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 3 at OHSAA Sectional Tournament, Sharon Woods GC, 8:30 a.m.
    • Tournament Field: Anderson, Kings, Goshen, Lakota East, Lakota West, Little Miami, Loveland, Mason, Milford, Moeller, New Richmond, Sycamore, Turpin, West Clermont, Western Brown
    • Tournament Note: Each sectional will qualify four (4) teams and the four (4) individual low scorers not on a qualifying team to the District Tournament at Glenview Golf Course, Thursday, October 12, 2017

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 28 at ECC Championship: Junior Justin Horn shot a tournament-best round of 74 to share medalist honors with Loveland’s Pete Matuszak at the 2017 Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament on Sept. 28 at Sharon Woods Golf Course. The Eagles finished third in the team standings with a team score of 335, with Loveland bettering Turpin by 11 shots for the team title. Senior Trey Robinson narrowly missed a top-10 finish, ending in a three-way tie for 11th with a score of 84.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles finished as the first team among others receiving votes in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll of the season, released on Sept. 25. St. Xavier, with 11 of 13 first place votes, was crowned the poll champion, with second place Lakota East taking the other two top nods. Elder, Mason and Loveland from the ECC round out the top-five. Other ECC squads mentioned include Anderson and Turpin in a tie for eighth, with West Clermont joining Milford in the others receiving votes section.
