Boys Golf Closes Regular Season Thursday At McNicholas

SETTING THE SCENE: With Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament and OHSAA Tournament play on the horizon, the Milford High School boys golf team will head to Stillmeadow Golf Course on Thursday for its final dual match of the season, taking on McNicholas. Postseason action kicks off next Thursday at Sharon Woods with the 2017 ECC Championship.

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 12 at Loveland: The Eagles took to the links at Hickory Woods Golf Course for a dual match-up with archrival Loveland. A tough battle ended in favor of the Tigers as they won by a 163-174 final. Justin Horn and Cole Watson shared low score honors on the day for the Eagles, each carding a round of 39.

 

Sept. 14 at Kings: Justin Horn and Cameron Loux each fired rounds of 38 at TPC River’s Bend as the Eagles took on Kings in a battle of two of the better squads in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference. The final scoreboard went the way of the Knights by a narrow 162-163 margin.

 

Sept. 16 at Springboro Invitational: The Eagles ventured to Springboro’s Heatherwoode Golf Course to take part in an 18-hole tournament hosted by the Panthers. As was the case throughout the week, two Eagles carded identical scores, as this time Justin Horn and Cameron Loux each totaled 83. Milford finished 17th in the team standings.

POLL WATCH: Milford fell back out of the top-10 of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 18. Four different teams earned No. 1 votes this week, headlined by first place St. Xavier with 11. No. 2 Elder (two votes), Lakota East (one vote), Mason (one vote) and the ECC’s Loveland round out the top-five. Other squads from the ECC among the ranked squads include Turpin in eighth, Anderson in ninth and Kings and West Clermont each receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
