Boys Golf Looks To Extend Three-Match Win Streak This Week

SETTING THE SCENE: Winners of three consecutive dual matches, the Milford High School boys golf team is back in action this week with a dual and a Sunday afternoon tournament as the Eagles continue preparations for the postseason. The days ahead start with the Eagles traveling to Ivy Hills Country Club for a head-to-head with Turpin on Tuesday. When the weekend rolls around, Milford will take to the course at Glenview Golf Course, site of this year’s ECC Tournament to participate in the Hadley Invitational.

  • Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Turpin, Ivy Hills Country Club, 4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 9 at Hadley Invitational, Glenview Golf Course, 1:30 p.m.

 

A LOOK BACK: Aug. 28 at Fenwick: The Eagles enjoyed a season-best day on the course as they dominated Fenwick by a 146-177 score at Deer Track. Behind scores of 33 from Justin Horn and 35 from brother Adam, Milford’s score was a season-low. In addition to the Horns, the Eagles also enjoyed rounds of 37 from Cole Watson and 41 each from Tristin Messerschmidt and Taylor Rehmer.

 

Aug. 29 vs. Loveland: The scheduled match-up between the Eagles and Tigers fell victim to rain and was rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 12.

 

Aug. 30 vs. Kings: Milford picked up a narrow ECC win at Deer Track, knocking off Kings by a 153-157 margin. Justin Horn earned his second medalist honor of the week, shooting a score of 35. Cole Watson carded a 38, while Adam Horn and Taylor Rehmer each fired a round of 40.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles are sixth in the Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 4. Lakota East remains the top team according to the nine voting coaches as they earned seven of the top nods. Mason took second with the other two No. 1s with Elder, St. Xavier and Moeller wrapping up the top-five. The ECC well represented, as in addition to the Eagles, Anderson is seventh, Loveland is eighth, Turpin is 10th and Kings is among others receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
