Boys Hoops Tips Off 2018 With Pair Of ECC Match-Ups Beginning Tuesday At Turpin

SETTING THE SCENE: After winter weather postponed its most recently scheduled contest, the Milford High School boys basketball team will take to the court for the first time in nearly two weeks when it tips off 2018 with a Tuesday night visit to Turpin. The Eagles have flown to an early 3-0 start in Eastern Cincinnati Conference play, good for a share of first place in the standings with Walnut Hills. While the Turpin match-up starts the week, the highlight will come on Friday night when Milford will host their aforementioned first place mates in the ECC, Walnut Hills. Both games this week are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tip-offs.

 

A LOOK BACK: December 29 at Edgewood: Due to a poor weather forecast in Butler County, the Milford-Edgewood game was postponed. No make-up date has been decided.

INSIDE THE ECC: Milford and Walnut Hills have each jumped to 3-0 starts in league play to pace the ECC standings early. Loveland and Withrow are just behind at 2-1 each. The schedule for ECC conference games this week includes: Tuesday-Milford at Turpin, Anderson at Walnut Hills, Kings at West Clermont and Loveland at Withrow; Friday-Walnut Hills at Milford, Turpin at Kings, West Clermont at Withrow and Anderson at Loveland.

 

POLL WATCH: Milford placed ninth in the most recent Cincinnati Enquirer area Division I coaches’ poll that was released on Jan. 2. This week, Princeton and Moeller are sharing the top spot with the former holding a 5-3 edge in first place votes. Third place Mason earned the final No. 1 and is ahead of a tie between Oak Hills and the ECC’s Walnut Hills in the top-five.
