The Eastern Cincinnati Conference Offensive Player of the Year, two All-Region position players of the year and a total of 16 all-conference and all-region awards have been bestowed on members of the 2022 Milford boys lacrosse team. Headlining the list are ECC top offensive player Keegan Laughlin, along with regional midfielder of the year Luke Ray and top long stick midfielder Jacob Smith. All three players each earned first team All-ECC and All-Region awards.

Luke Barkimer was also a first team ECC and regional selection, while Bryce Burleson was first team all-league and second team all-region. Ethan Foster and Brendan Worthington were each tabbed second team All-ECC, while Jacob Wagner was honorable mention in both the conference and region. Kurtis Ackermann rounds out the list, grabbing honorable mention all-region honors.

Laughlin wrapped up a decorated career this spring by becoming Milford’s all-time leading scorer, concluding his time as an Eagle with 135 goals. He also ranks second with 53 career assists. This spring, Laughlin led the league with 68 goals and tacked on 13 assists. Bound for the University of Indianapolis next year, he is now a two-time first team all-conference choice and Milford’s second straight ECC Player of the Year.

Ray also enjoyed a second straight All-ECC first team honor, despite having his season cut short by injury. He capped the season with 31 goals and 32 assists, with the latter ranking fifth in the league. With one season remaining, Ray is third in school history in goals (69) and first in assists (64).

Smith is yet another two-time first team all-conference selection. He made his name again this year as a stellar defender, scooping an ECC-best 173 groundballs and causing 57 opponent’s turnovers. On the offensive end, he scored eight goals and tacked on eight assists.

After being named second team All-ECC last year, Barkimer slid up a spot to first team honors in 2022. This spring, he was one of the top offensive players in the league, finishing sixth with 48 goals scored and ranking fourth with 34 assists.

Burleson did a lot of things well for Milford this spring on his way to his first-ever All-ECC first team accolade. A king when it came to face-offs, Burleson ranked second in the conference with 245 draw controls. He was also third, collecting 114 groundballs. On offense, the junior scored 14 goals and passed out 11 assists.

Otterbein University commit Ethan Foster was placed on the All-ECC second team for a second straight year. From his goalie position, Foster recorded 141 saves in 17 games and wraps up his career as the all-time Milford leader with 340.

Worthington was another defensive stalwart for Milford, gathering 38 groundballs, winning 22 face-offs and causing 26 turnovers. He was also pressed into action at goalie for a couple of matches, recording 14 saves.

Wagner’s season concluded with three goals, 42 groundballs and nine caused turnovers as a first time All-ECC honoree.
