Boys Soccer Back At Home For SoccerFest/Senior Night On Saturday

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School boys soccer team will look to continue building on a solid 2018 season when they return to the field on Saturday for SoccerFest, a full day of soccer action, culminating with a boys-girls varsity Senior Night doubleheader. The boys match is scheduled to kick off at 5:00 p.m. Milford with a record 6-2-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the ECC, had its Thursday night home match against Withrow postponed until next Tuesday by weather.

 

THANK YOU SENIORS: Senior Night will be celebrated at Charity J. Lucas Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 29 in conjunction with the Eagles 5 p.m. match-up with Lebanon. Prior to kickoff, the senior class of Noah Baker, Aaron Bumgarner, Cole Cambron, Harrison Eckels, Zach Mash, Jonah Nye, Collin Rogus and Cameron Sherman will be honored for their contributions to Milford Soccer over the past four years.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

    • Series History: Milford leads 6-4-1

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 20 at Turpin: The Eagles were defeated for just the second time this year, while being shutout for the first time, falling to Turpin, 1-0. The victory kept the Spartans undefeated for the season.

 

Sept. 22 at Oak Hills: Milford bounced back from the defeat to Turpin with a solid 3-0 win at Oak Hills. Junior Joey Round kept his season-long scoring barrage in tact with his 11th goal of the year. Seniors Aaron Bumgarner and Harrison Eckels each netted their first goals of the season in the triumph.

POLL WATCH: Milford has climbed up two spots to eighth in this week’s Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 24. Moeller took all but one of the 19 first place votes, with second place St. Xavier the recipient of the other. The ECC’s Turpin, Anderson and Loveland wrap up the top-five. Walnut Hills comes in 10th with Kings among others receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

 

ROUND, BURNETT WIN ENQUIRER AWARDS: Junior Joey Round and Noah Burnett, thanks to the support of Eagle Nation, have each been voted the winner of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Boys Soccer Player of the Week Award this season. Round won his award on Sept. 7, while Burnett was honored on Sept. 14.
