Boys Soccer Closes Regular Season At Loveland On Thursday

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School boys soccer team will bring another successful regular season to a close on Thursday night when the Eagles make the short drive to Loveland for a 7 p.m. kick with the Tigers. Milford (8-3-4, 2-1-3, ECC) has won four of its last six, but are coming off a tie and a defeat in last week’s two outings. The contest will serve as a final tune-up for the Eagles’ OHSAA Tournament opener next Tuesday night, at home against Harrison.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Thursday, Oct. 12 at Loveland, 7:00 p.m.
    • 2017 Record: 7-6-1, 3-3-0 ECC (RV Division I area coaches’ weekly poll)
    • Top Scorer: Junior Drew Hartman (3 G, 4 A, 10 pts.)
    • Last Meeting: 2016; Milford 2, Loveland 2
    • Series History: Milford leads 18-15-3

 

TOURNEY TALK: The Eagles were awarded the No. 9 seed in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament which opens next week. Milford will host No. 30 Harrison on Tuesday, Oct. 17 with a 7 p.m. kickoff.

 

The schedule for ECC teams in the tournament includes: No. 2 Anderson vs. No. 31 Withrow (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Anderson), No. 7 Turpin vs. No. 20 Western Brown (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Turpin), No. 10 Loveland vs. No. 22 Middletown (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Loveland), No. 15 Kings vs. No. 26 Winton Woods (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Kings), No. 18 Walnut Hills vs. No. 12 Talawanda (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Talawanda), No. 28 West Clermont vs. No. 6 Lakota West (October 17, 7:00 p.m. at Lakota West).

 

A LOOK BACK: Oct. 5 at Kings: Milford took to the road in ECC play, scoring a 2-2 tie at Kings. Sophomore Noah Burnett scored his team-leading 12th goal of 2017, while junior Cole Cambron tallied his fist of the year. Seniors Stephen Hobson and Limo Rustom each picked up assists in the match.

 

Oct. 7 vs. Indian Hill: Milford’s Senior Day came against a quality Indian Hill team and the Braves escaped Charity J. Lucas Stadium with a 3-2 victory.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles finished 10th in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll of the 2017 season. Moeller was crowned the regular season poll champions, earning 16 of the 18 first place votes that were cast. ECC member Anderson took the other two top votes and finished second with Mason, Fairfield and St. Xavier completing the top-five. Turpin from the ECC was ranked seventh with Loveland and Kings earning births in the others receiving votes section. The final coaches’ poll can be viewed at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
