Boys Soccer Faces Pair Of Matches In Three Day Stretch

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School boys soccer team will be looking to snap a five-match winless streak when the Eagles take to the pitch twice in a three-day beginning on Thursday night. After starting the year 4-0-0, the Eagles have recorded ties in three of their last five outings and will look to get back into the win column on Thursday night at Withrow and again at home against Oak Hills on Saturday evening. The Eagles are owners of a 4-2-3 overall mark and a 0-1-2 record inside the Eastern Cincinnati Conference.

SOCCERFEST THIS SATURDAY: The Milford High School boys and girls soccer teams will host a full day of soccer action, along with a collections to benefit those in need during Soccer Fest coming up on Saturday, Sept. 23. Several bins will be available inside Charity J. Lucas Stadium on Milford’s campus, with donations of items to stock the Milford Miami Ministry Food Bank being accepted. Fans are encouraged to consider bringing donations of pasta, sauce or any other non-perishable food items.

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 14 vs. Anderson: Taking on the ECC’s top teams and the second ranked team in the area, Milford fell by a 4-1 score to Anderson. Sophomore Joey Round netted his second goal of the season in the loss.

 

Sept. 16 at Monroe: The Eagles made the trip north to Monroe, returning with a 1-1 tie against the Fighting Hornets.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles continue to receive votes in the Sept. 18 edition of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area Division I coaches’ poll. Moeller is the top-ranked squad in the area, according to the 23 coaches who submitted ballots as the Crusaders were listed first on 19 of them. ECC member Anderson picked up the other four No. 1 votes and resides in second. Mason, Lakota West and St. Xavier round out the top-five. Other ECC squads mentioned include Turpin in eighth, along with Loveland, Kings and Walnut Hills joining the Eagles among additional squads to receive votes.
