Boys Soccer Information Summer 2017

The following information is for students who wish to tryout for Milford High School boys soccer for the Fall 2017 season.

Your fourth quarter grades will determine if you are eligible to play this fall.

  • You must have an Emergency Medical Authorization filled out before you may participate in anything. These are found on the main athletics webpage under Links & Resources on the top left. We recommend you fill it out online, save it and then print it to turn in. Please use this web address:

  • 8thgraders may join the high school boys after spring break at the high school. Walk to the high school weight room right after school. The workouts will be on Tuesday and Thursday and start by 2:20 and end no later than 3:30. Follow Mr. Grothaus if you need.
  • This summer, we will have weight room, conditioning and free play from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday during June and July. The boys should bring a ball, water, soccer shoes, running shoes and proper soccer attire. If they have a Milford soccer t-shirt, then they should wear it. The weight room is located next to the cafeteria at the high school and our free play will be located between the 9th grade center and Charity Lucas soccer stadium.

The boys should wear black shorts every day, a white t-shirt on Monday, a red t-shirt on Tuesday and Gray t-shirt on Thursday.

  • Our goal for the summer is to increase our fitness level, develop our skills, bond with teammates and learn from the coaches. Specifically, players should decrease their 2 mile time (varsity players should be around 12 minutes), decrease their 40 meter sprint time, increase their juggling (over 100) and increase their overall body strength.
  • There is a pre-season tournament this summer during the weekend of July 29 & 30. We will have a few practices before that and divide up into three teams to play. A nominal fee of approximately $30 will be necessary to cover the tournament cost and a couple of t-shirts. The tournament is optional and if you already have out of town plans, it is okay. But, if he can participate then we want him to play! (The exact price of the tourney will be determined this summer)
  • We will have tryouts August 1-2. To tryout, an athlete must have an OHSAA physical. A physical is offered on the Milford campus in May for a fee. Exact date to be determined later. Go to http://www.milfordathletics.org/ for a copy of the 6 page form.

We will have 2 – 3 scrimmages once tryouts are complete. I will furnish you with those dates and times as they become available. 

  • Our first regular season game is August 18 for varsity and JVA at home vs. Little Miami and for JVB it is August 19 at Western Brown.
  • We have three teams and will keep 48-54 players. The three teams are Varsity, JV-A and JV-B. All players will work out together during spring and summer months and we usually workout together once per week during the fall season.
