Boys Soccer Seeks Sectional Crown With Tuesday Battle Against Lakota West

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School boys soccer squad will chase an OHSAA Sectional Championship when the Eagles take to the pitch against Lakota West on Tuesday night. The game, scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. will be played at Lakota East High School. After posting two losses and a tie in the final three games of the regular season, the ninth-seeded Eagles have now won two straight in the tournament to bring a 10-4-4 record into the meeting with the sixth-seeded Firebirds (13-3-2). The winner will advance to Saturday’s district finals against the winner of the Beavercreek-Miamisburg contest.

The schedule for remaining ECC teams in the tournament includes: No. 2 Anderson vs. No. 8 Sycamore (Oct. 24, 7:00 p.m. at Lakota West) and No. 10 Loveland vs. No. 4 Fairfield (Oct. 24, 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton).

 

A LOOK BACK: Oct. 21 vs. Little Miami: Milford continued its postseason scoring outburst with a second straight match with four goals as the Eagles picked up a 4-1 win over Little Miami. The game, played inside Charity J. Lucas Stadium, was Milford’s second victory of the season over LMHS.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles finished 10th in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll of the 2017 season. Moeller was crowned the regular season poll champions, earning 16 of the 18 first place votes that were cast. ECC member Anderson took the other two top votes and finished second with Mason, Fairfield and St. Xavier completing the top-five.
