Boys Swimming Wins ECC Title; Girls Place 6th

Posted on: January 28, 2019

Senior Chase Fisher won two individual titles, swam anchor in two winning relays and set four Eastern Cincinnati Conference records, leading Milford to the 2019 ECC Boys Swimming Championship. For his efforts, Fisher earned the conference’s Swimmer of the Year Award, while first-year Milford head coach Corey Dauw was tabbed ECC Coach of the Year. The Eagles’ girls team took sixth place in the team standings.

Fisher blazed his way to victory in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events, setting new league championship records in both events. He joined Tyler Babinec, Evan Fentress and Sam Leatherwood in winning the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays, setting ECC marks in both as well.

Babinec also won the 100 breaststroke and came within .01 seconds of capturing the 100 butterfly. Lauren Clark (200 and 500 freestyle) and Lauren Bell (100 breaststroke) led the girls team with seventh place finishes in each event. Diver Sophie Cooper placed fifth earlier in the week at the ECC Diving Championships for the girls.

The conference crown for the boys was the first for Milford since joining the ECC and the first overall since winning the FAVC title in 2009.
