Boys track and field at home Wednesday at Milford Invitational

SETTING THE SCENE:  The Eagles will host the annual Milford Invitational this week, followed by a trip to the Loveland Invite.  After two days of competition at the Anderson Invitational, Milford’s boys track and field team finished ninth among a number of impressive teams. 

  

A LOOK BACK: The Milford boys placed ninth of twenty-two teams following two days of competition at the Anderson Invitational.  Dustin Reynolds won the 400 meter dash, while the 4x400 relay team (Reynolds, Dillon Coleman, Ben Gerding and Jared Engelman) placed third. 

 

The dominance of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference was evident, as four of the top five teams hail from the ECC:  Loveland (1st), Kings (3rd), Anderson (4th) and Turpin (5th).  The Eagles earned 36 points, just one point behind 8th place Highlands (Ky) and ten points behind fifth place Turpin. 

Those who qualified during Tuesday’s preliminaries returned for the finals, held on Wed., 4/12. 

Milford athletes placing in the top eight of each event were as follows:

    •    4th place, Dustin Reynolds (23.17)
  • 400 Meter Dash
    •    1st place, Dustin Reynolds (51.37)
    •    4th place, Dillon Coleman (53.10)
  • 110 Meter Hurdles
    •    8th place, Manny Fernandez (17.40)
  • 300 Meter Hurdles
    •    7th place, Manny Fernandez (43.54)
  • 1600 Meter Run
    •    7th place, Harris Craycraft (4:41.12)
  • 3200 Meter Run
    •    7th place, Harris Craycraft (10:18.38)
  • Discus Throw
    •    7th place, Trip Yersky (116-09.00)
    •    8th place, Bryce Dugan (116-07.50)
  • 4x400 Relay
    •    3rd place, Dillon Coleman, Ben Gerding, Jared Engelman, Dustin Reynolds (3:39.58)

A LOOK AHEAD:  Both the boys and girls track and field teams have two events on the schedule in the upcoming week.  The Milford Invitational returns this week to the Bill Marran Track at Milford High School, and the teams will make the short trek to the Loveland Invitational on Friday.

INSIDE THE ECC:  The following Milford athletes/events fall in the top ten in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference early in the season.

ECC - BOYS:

  • Jonny Burton: 8th 300 meter hurdles; t-4th high jump
  • Dillon Coleman: 4th 400 meter dash
  • Harris Craycraft: 6th 1600 meter run; 3rd 3200 meter run
  • Bryce Dugan:  9th shot put; 5th discus
  • Jared Engelman; 8th 400 meter dash; 6th long jump
  • Manny Fernandez: 1st 110 meter hurdles; 1st 300 meter hurdles; 5th long jump
  • Ben Gerding: 10th 800 meter run
  • Dustin Reynolds:  2nd 400 meter dash; 3rd 200 meter dash
  • Ben Tonucci:  10th shot put, 8th discus
  • Sean Vonderhaar:  9th 3200 meter run

POLL WATCH:  There were no changes in the top four team for week four of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll.  Mason held onto the top ranking, while LaSalle ranked second and Sycamore fell to third.  The ECC’s Kings and St. Xavier held onto fourth and fifth, respectively.  Loveland is sixth, but Withrow fell out of the top ten.  Milford received one vote in week four, while Anderson (4), Turpin (4) and Withrow (3) and Walnut Hills (1) each received votes in week four as well.
