Boys Volleyball Looks To Continue Win Streak

Posted on: April 9, 2018

SETTING THE SCENE:  After three consecutive victories, including the first ever win over LaSalle, the Eagles have the opportunity to collect three more wins in the week ahead.   Milford will host Loveland and Purcell Marian, and end the week with a visit to West Clermont.

A LOOK BACK:  Milford hosted Walnut Hills for the first conference match of the season on April 3.  Milford’s Eagles were down early with close losses of 24-26 and 22-25 in the first two sets.  However, Milford fought back and evened the score with wins 25-21 and 25-9 in the next two to force a fifth set.  Walnut Hills collected the overall win 3-2 with a 15-12 victory in set five.

The Eagles faced their first ranked opponent of the year on Wed., April 4 when the Lancers of LaSalle traveled to Milford.  The Eagles took the first match 25-16, but fell behind when #5 LaSalle won the next two, 25-15 and 25-22.  A close 25-23 Eagle victory once again forced a fifth for the Eagles, and this time Milford found themselves on the positive side of extra play, a 15-12 set win and a 3-2 victory.

Milford ended the week at a tri-match on Sat., April 7 with Mason and Sycamore.  Milford let an early lead over Mason slip away and lost the first game 24-26, but rebounded for a 2-1 win of the match with scores of 25-13 and 25-17 in the second and third sets. Milford easily defeated Sycamore 25-13 in the first, but the Aves made the Eagles earn the 2-0 sweep. Milford found themselves down early in the second set but the team persevered for a 28-26 victory.
