Boys Volleyball Season Opens On The Road

Posted on: March 31, 2017

SETTING THE SCENE:  Head Coach Jim Siciliano returns as head coach for the fourth year to lead the Eagles for the 2017 season.  The squad returns just three starters and five total varsity members from last year’s squad; that team ended the year with an 8-13 record.

Not yet a conference sport, Milford is assigned to the Ohio High School Boys Volleyball Association’s South Division, which includes Archbishop Moeller, Colerain, Elder, Fairfield, LaSalle, the ECC’s Loveland, Mason, Oak Hills, Princeton, St. Xavier, Sycamore, Walnut Hills and the ECC’s West Clermont (Glen Este & Amelia).

TEAM PREVIEW:  The team lost six seniors from last year’s roster, but returns four juniors and a sophomore to helm a team with a great deal of potential.  High expectation await sophomore Caleb Cambron, who played an important role on the 2016 team.  Starters Peter Kroeger and Luken Dalessandro return, as do their junior classmates Ryan Schroeder and Connor Brumagen.

THE WEEK AHEAD:  The Eagles return from spring break and dive right into the season, with four matches on tap this week, including one with #9 Fairfield.

  • Tuesday, 4/4:                    Milford @ Withrow High School, 5:30 pm
  • Wednesday, 4/5:                 Sycamore High School @ Milford, 6:45 pm
  • Thursday, 4/6:                   Milford @ Loveland High School, 6:45 pm
  • Friday, 4/7:                        Milford @ Fairfield High School, 6:45 pm

POLL WATCH:  Elder, who ended the 2016 season in second, opens 2017 atop the Cincinnati Enquirer coaches’ preseason poll.   Moeller is ranked second, followed by St. Xavier, Alter and Lakota East.  LaSalle and McNicholas start the year tied for sixth, and Mason, Fairfield and Oak Hills round out the top ten.  Loveland of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference received seven votes; Milford did not receive any votes in the preseason poll.
