Bronaugh Wins Third Title at Edgewood Invitational; Eagles Head To SWOWCA Glen Sample Tournament This Weekend

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  Milford will head to Harrison High School for the Southwest Ohio Wrestling Coaches Association’s Glen Sample Classic Tournament, an annual two-day event.  At the 2017 Classic, Kobey Bronaugh was the only Eagle to head into the second day of competition, where he finished fourth at 126#.  The Eagles finished 36th out of 47 teams.

A LOOK BACKDecember 7-8, Milford at Edgewood Invitational

Though the Eagles entered day two of the Edgewood Invitational in a three-way tie for first, the Eagles finished 11th of 27 teams, an improvement from the team’s 15th place finish in 2017.  Kobey Bronaugh pinned Eric Johnson of Simon Kenton to win first place at 138, his third title at the Edgewood Invitation in four years; Bronaugh also won in his respective weight class in both 2015 and 2016.  Max Ward took second place after a loss in the finals at 126 to Tim Smith of Colerain.  After advancing through the consolation rounds, Ray Clayton (132) was defeated by Little Miami’s Cole Gintert in the third-place round to finished fourth.  At 160, Alex Price nearly took the podium, but suffered a loss to Colerain’s Temesgen Kahsay who went on to place third.

POLL WATCH: Week one of the area coaches’ poll from the Cincinnati Enquirer finds LaSalle surpassed Mason as the top local Division I team (!).  Mason fell to second, while Fairfield, Harrison and Elder remained in the top five.  The ECC’s Loveland held onto ninth, and remains the only ECC team in the top ten.  Milford enters the poll with 2 votes, joined by West Clermont (5) and Withrow (3); find the latest poll at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls
