Busy Week Ahead for Boys Tennis Includes ECC Championships and Senior Day

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  The Eagles open the week at the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championship Tournament, to be held at Lunken Playfield.  In addition to a Wednesday match with Mariemont, Milford will end the week honoring seniors William Chen, Tyler Rutter, and Kasey Shumard before hosting Seven Hills High School.

Last season, Milford placed 6th overall at the 2018 ECC Championships. Mark Ostrander, playing third singles, finished in 5th place, as did Michael Faler and his partner at second doubles.

Tuesday, April 30:                  Milford at ECC Championship Tournament, Lunken Playfield Tennis Facility, 9:00 am

Wednesday, May 1:                 Milford at Mariemont High School, Mariemont Tennis Courts, 4:00 pm

Friday, May 1:                        Seven Hills High School B at Milford, 4:00 pm – SENIOR DAY

  

A LOOK BACK:   

April 23 at Walnut Hills:  Walnut Hills 5, Milford 0

The Eagles dropped an ECC bout with Walnut Hills, 5-0.  Walnut’s Kogan defeated Mark Ostrander 6-1, 2-6 at first singles; Michael Faler fell 0-6, 0-6 to Schnizer at second singles; and at third singles Will Kroeger was defeated by Inglert 1-6, 3-6.  Clay Harris/Steward Dalziel lost the first doubles match 1-6, 1-6 to Pharris/Manchineella; while Wyatt Lindsey, paired with Matt Attenuehle at second doubles, fell to Levy/Mitchell 0-6, 0-6.

                                                                   

April 24 at Kings:  Kings 5, Milford 0

After taking the second set, the second doubles duo of Clay Harris and Carson Haywood nearly upset Freeman/Messer to get a match win for the Eagles, but lost 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.  Shumard/Dalziel lost at first doubles to Jones/Lockwood 2-6, 0-6.  In singles play:  Ostrander fell 0-6, 4-6 to Lee; Faler was defeated 2-6, 0-6 by Alexander; and Kroeger fought but fell to Mussari 2-6, 3-6.

 

April 27 at GCTCA:

Milford played in Flight E of the Greater Cincinnati Tennis Coaches Association’s Coaches Classic, which featured a new Round Robin format this year.  While the initial games scheduled for Thurs., April 25 were postponed due to weather, the Eagles took to the courts on Sat., April 27 at Fairfield High School.

The Eagles finished Flight E in 3rd place with 10 points.  Milford took 2nd place in two events; Will Kroeger at third singles, and Clay Harris/Wyatt Lindsey at second doubles. Mark Ostrander (first singles) finished in 3rd, and Michael Faler (second singles) and Carson Haywood/Steward Dalziel (first doubles) ended the day in 4th place.

INSIDE THE ECC:  Loveland remains perfect in the ECC (6-0, 12-3 overall), though the conference tournament is scheduled for the week ahead. Standings as of April 28 are as follows:
