Challenging Competition Ahead for Girls Cross Country at the Mason Invitational

Posted on: September 6, 2018

SETTING THE SCENE:  The Lady Eagles will enter week three of the season with momentum on the heels of a second place finish at the Loveland Invitational where freshman Emmy Sager took second.  Milford will take a 12-6 overall record into the Mason Invitational where they will see some of the best athletes from the Cincinnati area and beyond.

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: Milford’s girls cross country squad will head this weekend to the Mason Invitational, held at Corwin Nixon Park on Sat., Sept. 9.  The varsity girls race will begin at 9:00 am; JV (9th & 10th grade) will run at 11:30 am and the 11th & 12th grade JV will run at 12:45 pm.

A LOOK BACK:  Emmy Sager’s second place finish led the way as the Lady Eagles finished as runners-up at the Loveland Invitational, and Sager’s 20:06 was a new career best.  Olivia Loeffler (20:52) followed in 6th.  The trio of Emma Beck (18th, 22:34), Emily Rodeffer 19th with a new career best of 22:42), and Gretchen Feldkamp (20th, 22:42) finished within ten seconds of one another, and Sam Conrad (22nd, 23:07) and Brooke Stansell (24th, 23:11) essentially crossed the finish together.

Of the nine teams competing, host school Loveland won the team title at their own Invitational.  Following Milford in second place; Mariemont, Clark Montessori, and Colerain rounded out the top five.  Loveland’s Jessie Gibbins won the individual title in 19:33, followed by Milford’s Sager, Ellie Carr (20:12) and Maaike Snider (20:21) both of Loveland, and Mariemont’s Erin Kelly (20:41).
