Defense Key In Football Win At Walnut Hills

Posted on: September 4, 2021

Milford’s defense was in fine form during Week 3 of the 2021 season as the Eagles yielded less than 200 yards of total offense and came up with a pair of turnovers in a 34-8 victory over Walnut Hills. MHS was particular stout against the run, holding Walnut to only 42 yards on the ground, including less than 10 in the first half.

Natwan Webster and Chase Duesing keyed the Eagle offense with two touchdowns apiece. Webster burst in from three and one yard out for the first two scores of the night. Duesing caught his first of two 20-yard TDs from Austin Hardin just before halftime, pushing Milford to a 20-0 halftime lead.

A long pass play keyed Walnut’s first and only score in the early stages of the fourth quarter. But Milford sewed up the win with a Sawyer Copp rushing score and Duesing’s second TD haul of the night.

Duesing had a big night, grabbing six catches from Hardin for 110 yards and the two scores. Copp needed just 10 carries to rush for a game-high 65 yards, while Webster added 51 yards.

Milford will look for a second ECC win next Friday night, returning home to host Turpin.
